PHOENIX, Arizona -- About 100 people yesterday attended the latest installment of ALRE's Rachel B. Rivera Speaker Series, which featured a presentation on a new study being conducted by ASU in partnership with ALRE, "The State of Latino Arizona."
ASU Professor Carlos Velez-Ibanez spoke at the luncheon and heard input on what issues are important to the Latino community. His presentation, "Looking Ahead (Viendo Adelante): the Past, Present and Future of Hispanic Populations in the State of Arizona, 2009-2034," touched on several critical issues the Latino community will face in the coming years.
City Councilman Michael Nowakowski also gave remarks at the event, which was held at the Wyndham Downtown Hotel in Phoenix.
"It was very gratifying to see such a large turnout for this luncheon and the incredible amount of interest the audience had in the ASU study," said Sal Rivera, ALRE Board Chairman. "We all thoroughly enjoyed the presentation by Professor Ibanez, as well as the remarks by Councilman Nowakowski. ALRE is excited to be moving forward as part of this important study and grateful for the support of the community."

ALRE would like to thank the many people from the community who took time to attend the event. The audience's enthusiasm made the event an enjoyable kickoff to what will be a valuable partnership between ALRE and ASU.
